Stereo Graphic
Equaliser
- User Guide
CONNECTIONS
POWER: In the
U.K., fit the Europlug of the supplied mains lead into the rear
socket, and the 13 amp mains plug into a 220-240v power socket.
Outside the U.K., fit a suitable plug onto the bare wires of
the mains lead, and check the rear panel voltage is the same as your supply.
FUSE: Always
replace with a fuse of the same value (220-230v: 630mA, 110-120v: 1
Amp). If the fuse blows repeatedly, refer to qualified service personnel.
INPUTS: Using
good quality screened signal leads, connect the incoming signals into
the balanced XLR inputs on the rear panel. Pin 2 is hot.
If an unbalanced lead/signal is used, combine pins 1 and 3 in
the XLR plug. Note that both channels are completely
independent, so each can be used with a different signal.
OUTPUTS: Connect
the two balanced XLR outputs to the next piece of equipment in the
chain. In a live PA situation, the graphic would usually go
between the mixing console main outputs or insert points, and the
crossover (or power amp in a full range system). It could go between
the console's foldback (cue) output and the monitor power amp to
control feedback. In recording, it could go between the desk
outputs and the master 2 track recorder, in and out of the insert
points on the main output, or perhaps on one or two individual
channel's insert points to equalise a specific instrument. To
equalise tape copies, connect between the master machine outputs and
the slave machine inputs.
OPERATION
FADERS: The 15
faders per side offer boost and cut at standard frequencies. The
flat position (i.e. no boost or cut) is established by a centre detent.
SIGNAL: Led
indicates signal present. If it glows continually, reduce the
signal source gain.
GAIN: Usually
set to maximum (for unity gain), use both these controls to reduce
the output of the unit if a lot of boosting is being used.
BYPASS: This is
a true bypass, connecting the inputs directly to the outputs without
intervening circuitry, for comparison of the equalised signal with
the flat version. The led illuminates in bypass mode.
GROUND LIFT: Slide
this rear panel switch upward if hum occurs due to earth loops.
