G12 CENTURY AND G12 CENTURY VINTAGE CHASSIS SPEAKERS/DRIVERS

CELESTION BLUE CHASSIS SPEAKERS/DRIVERS
This
classic guitar speaker actually started life as a radio speaker in
the 1950's that was modified specifically for use in electric guitar
amplifiers. In its original incarnation as the G12 T530 it appeared
in several colour variations, but it was the Blue version, fitted as
standard into Vox AC30 amps, and early Marshall's that secured its
place in guitar tone history.
The Blue found favour with notable guitarists like Brian May, due to its glorious dampened attack, warm lows, mellow upper-mids and brilliant belllike top-end. When coupled with a suitable amplifier it evokes rich definition and develops beautiful musical compression when pushed. According to tone enthusiasts worldwide, the Blue is the benchmark for guitar speaker perfection

G10 GOLD - EVERYBODY NEEDS A LITTLE GOLD
At
the 2008 NAMM show, Celestion, the original guitar loudspeaker
company, announced the launch of the G10 Gold. This 10-inch alnico
magnet speaker is designed for players who want all the tone of a
Celestion Gold or Celestion Blue in a 10-inch format.
With the introduction of the G10 Gold, players can now obtain the cherished Celestion vintage alnico tone in a 10-inch loudspeaker.
The alnico magnet Celestion Blue was the worlds first purpose-built guitar loudspeaker and remains Celestions flagship guitar speaker to this day. The Celestion Gold--also featuring an alnico magnet and launched just two years ago to tremendous plaudits--gives players the same tonal signature as a Blue, in a higher power (50 watt) format.
The G10 Gold, with 40-watt power handling and available in 8 or 15 ohm formats, has been described as having a rich bass response, with a creamy mid-range complexity and soft vintage chiming top-end. The G10 Gold has a tone that is springy, warm, revealing and enormously touch-sensitive. Individually or in a pair it will add a classy sheen to any amp, or can be used in a 4x10 for higher volume depth, warmth and shimmer.

CELESTION G12 GOLD CHASSIS/DRIVER
Many
other manufacturers have tried to recreate the Celestion Blue sound
in a higher-powered driver, and some have come close. But only
Celestion has the experience and know-how to emulate the tone and
response of its own, Alnico classic in a modern driver thats
perfect for single or multiple applications in cabinets or combos.
What limited the power handling of
the Original Blue was the material used in the construction of the
voice coil.
However, after hundreds of hours
of testing and countless prototypes, Celestion has developed a new
coil that can withstand higher levels of power but leaves the tone unaffected.
Such a relatively simple, yet important development, lies at the heart of a truly remarkable new guitar loudspeaker.

"With the Gold, Celestion has
nailed the tone of the original Blue in a higher watt speaker. The

It
blew me away he commented, the bass and midrange

its deep, wide, fat
and extremely efficient. It sounds like you can dive in and swim to
the bottom of the Alnico magnet but you'll never ever get there

CELESTION G12-65 CHASSIS/DRIVER - new
The newly re-released G12-65 is the latest addition to the critically acclaimed Heritage Series that also features classic recreations of Celestions G12M and low-resonance G12H speakers speakers which helped forge the sound of the electric guitar during the classic 1960's British Invasion.
Known as one of the best 4 x 12" speakers ever produced and identified as the voice of 1980s rock and blues, the G12-65 is hand-built in England adhering precisely to the initial design notes, specifications, materials and construction techniques of the original speaker. Celestion has paid strict attention to detail right down to the voice coil former material, glue formulations and edge-treatment. In addition, close consideration to matching the coil and magnetic flux specifications of the original model has been employed, while particulars, including solder-only tag panels and an authentic period real label, complete the package.
A forerunner to Celestions G12T-75, the G12-65 was created as a higher-powered version of the legendary G12M Greenback and designed specifically for use with advanced amplifier technology. Its tone is described somewhere between a Greenback and a Classic Lead 80 plenty of definition for high gain, yet not too bright or aggressive.
The Heritage Series G12-65 is a 12" speaker with a pressed-steel chassis that features a 65-Watt power rating, 1.75" round copper voice coil, 8 or 15 Ohm nominal impedance, 97 dB sensitivity and frequency response of 80-5000 Hz. In every tonal aspect, the G12-65 remains a painstakingly exact replica of the original allowing guitarists to accurately recreate the cherished rock and blues tones of the classic 1980s era.

G12-75 and G12M GREENBACK CHASSIS SPEAKERS/DRIVERS
The new G10 Greenback, delivering rich, classic Celestion tone in a 10 format.
Celestion recognized an opportunity for a 10-inch guitar loudspeaker capable of delivering classic rock tone. The goal was to develop a driver that is capable of delivering tone like the distinctive sports-car growl that is the trademark of the original 12-inch G12M Greenback, but in the smaller 10-inch format. This loudspeaker is available now.
To achieve this, Celestion design engineers performed extensive listening tests with 10-inch Celestion ceramic drivers from the late 60s onwards, as well as drawing on the experience gained from the development of the original G12M Greenback.
The result is the 30-Watt G10 Greenback, which remains faithful to the sonic spirit of the Greenback family. The weighty low-end balance of a 12-inch driver with a richly complex and creamy mid-range and vintage smooth top-end - this is the unit to add class to small combos, provide the 4 x 12" sound only on a smaller scale, and is even capable of delivering the majestic sonic barrage of the near-mythical 8 x 10".
At the same time, Celestion have introduced a new eight hole chassis that's more versatile for upgrades. The new G10 also features a green can, which should leave no-one in any doubt of this remarkable speakers family history. The G10 Greenback truly is a contemporary speaker with a vintage pedigree.

FTR,
Celestions next generation of cast aluminum chassis
professional loudspeakers, is now shipping to dealers worldwide.
These drivers feature innovations in magnet and chassis design,
and voice coil material significant technological advances
that minimize distortion and thermal compression to further increase
performance, power handling and sound quality.
Overcoming
distortion and thermal compression are major challenges for anyone
designing industry-leading, professional loudspeakers,
commented Celestion product development director Ian White. By
focusing on the key areas of magnet, chassis and voice coil,
weve created a new kind of driver that represents an evolution
in technology to achieve very high levels of performance.
Concentrated
research and development at Celestions new purpose-built
facility in Ipswich has resulted in an exceptionally high quality
driver that provides:
Low Thermal Compression voice coil overheat can cause output SPL to diminish over time. FTRs sophisticated design focuses on thermal control enabling heat to be conducted rapidly away from the voice coil assembly, minimizing this effect.
Low Distortion FTR significantly improves upon the distortion performance of many LF drivers in production today. This has been achieved through an innovative magnet structure, evolutionary voice coil construction and an optimized chassis design.
High Power FTR enables first-class sound reinforcement and can handle up to 1000W rms (AES Standard). This level of power handling requires a large voice coil, which in turn demands a substantial magnet. The cast aluminum chassis is robust enough to support a larger magnet and has been painstakingly designed to dissipate more heat away from the voice coil.
Note: If you
are looking to build your own PA cabinets to house these drivers,
